I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and during the winter months I still feel like a misplaced southerner. As a child I attended Jackson Public Schools. After graduating high school I attended Jackson Community College and then transferred to Western Michigan University. I graduated with a degree in Business with Finance being my major. Over the next few years I worked at several different jobs and eventually found myself running a property claims office for a large insurance company. Through volunteer work I discovered a natural talent to communicate well with young people and that I enjoyed the educational process.
Wanting to pursue education professionally I quit my job and went back to school to become a teacher. It nearly took two years as a full time student to earn my teaching endorsement from Eastern Michigan University.
The majority of my family lives in the Jackson area, and even though I am still fond of the south I consider Jackson my home town. My interests outside of school are sports, current events, and spending time with my kids.
